The aim of this study was to investigate the experiences of persons with disabilities who receive personal
assistance, the focus being on their relationship in giving and receiving personal assistance.
For the purpose of the study, 3 times in-depth interviews on the focused group composed of 11 people
were performed those interviews were analyzed according to Strauss and Corbin(1990)’s Grounded Theory.
From the study, a total of 104 concepts were drawn, which were classified into 24 subcategories and
15 superordinate categories.
As this study contributes to the understanding of the complexity underlying the daily care of disabled
persons with an extensive need for care and assistance, it would be able to provide important basic materials
for the improvement of expertise of personal assistance service.
