This study was designed to furnish fundamental materials to set the new directions of future
education which is joined together with play and education by investigating and analyzing the
realities and demands of play activities.
The tasks for the objectives of this study were like these. First, how about the realities of
play activities of primary school children? Second, what are the demands of primary school
children about play activities?
To settle this study the questionnaires for analysis of an investigation of play activities
realties and demands of primary school children were given and collected. They are targeting
on 300 six-grade primary school children in four elementary school.
Following are the findings from this study.
First, primary school children were spending their major playing time on playing computer
games and watching TV which use the mediums indoors or in limited space. Consequently the
play with physical activities outside is insufficient.
Second, primary school children were dissatisfied with their play activities because of a
shortage of time, facilities and space primarily. This means that the time to play freely and the
space to play safely have to be provided to primary school children.
Third, primary school children wanted to enlarge the time and space as the request of play
activities. They wanted the outdoor space and play programs in which they can do various
body action and friendship activities. This means that the diverse social support has to be
followed for satisfactory play activities of primary school children.
