본 연구는 시각장애학교 저시력학생을 대상으로 현재 시각장애학교에서 제공되고 있는 학교시설과 학습 환경, 학습자료와 저시력기구, 인적 지원 영역에 대한 실태를 파악하여 이를 토대로 시각장애학교 저시력 학생을 위한 효과적인 교육지원 방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 연구가 수행되었다. 이상의 연구를 통해 얻은 결론을 정리하여 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 저시력학생은 학교시설과 학습환경에 대해 보통 수준 으로 편리함을 느끼고 있으며, 편리한 시설로 교실과 특별실을 그러한 요인으로 안전성을, 불편함을 느끼는 시설로 계단과 단차 및 턱, 복도를 그러한 요인으로 안전성에 대한 문제를 많이 응답했다. 따라서 시각장애 학교의 물리적 환경 접근성 향상을 위해 각 학생의 시각환경을 고려하여 안전성에 입각한 시설물 설계가 이루어져야 하고, 계단과 단차 및 턱, 복도 등에 대한 색상대비 강조, 마감재질 다양화를 통한 단서 제공, 장애물 제거를 포함한 조도와 빛의 밝기 등의 조절이 필요할 것으로 보인다. 둘째, 저시력학생은 시각자 료 제공에 있어 불편함을 느끼고 있으며, 확대교과서 역시 사용 대상이 많지 않았다. 그러나 저시력기구는 사용하는 학생이 많았으며 주로 손잡이형확대경과 싸인펜 그리고 형광펜의 저시력기구를 사용한다는 응 답이 높게 나타났다. 따라서 저시력학생에게 시각자료를 제공하기 위해서는 학습매체평가를 통해 각 학생 의 시각환경을 고려한 자료 제공이 선행되어야 하고, 저시력기구 제공에 있어서도 다양한 저시력기구의 소개 와 처방 그리고 사용 방법 지도와 사후 평가를 거쳐 시효율성 향상에 기여하는 방향으로 개선이 이루어져야 한다. 셋째, 저시력학생은 대부분 시각장애학교에서 인적 지원을 적절하게 받지 못하는 실태를 보였다. 따라서 저시력학생의 심리적 문제 경감과 해소를 위해서는 다양한 상담 인력이 확보되어야 하고, 안과상 담을 포함한 시기능훈련이 저시력전문가로부터 주기적으로 실시되어 저시력학생의 시효율성 향상에 기여 해야 한다.
The purpose of this study was to analyzed the situation and needs on education supports of students with low vision in visual impaired schools, and to suggested the improvement plans to ensure the effective education supports. The results of this study were that: (a) the situation on the education supports in the area of the school accommodation, teaching environment supports, teaching and learning materials, visual supporting materials, expanded core curriculums, and professional staff was not satisfied to teach the low vision students in the visual impaired schools; (b) the needs on the education supports were various in the area of the school accommodation, teaching environment supports, lighting fixtures and intensity of illumination, seating placement, expanded core curriculums, professional staff, and supporting center for low vision students; and (c) the improvement plan to ensure the effective education supports of the low vision students in the visual impaired schools were suitable of the low vision students’ needs and characteristics in the area of school accommodation, learning environments supports, teaching and supporting materials, assessment of the low vision, expanded core curriculums, professional staff, and supporting center for low vision students.
