The purpose of this study was to probe changes in family leisure activities since
5-day week school system and study of leisure awareness and leisure attitude of
middle school students. In order to meet the purpose of the study, the data used for
the analysis of study was a set of 324 questionnaires that administered carefully to
the subjects. The primary statistics used for the study were reliability and validity
test using SPSS Version 18.0. Also, frequency analysis is used for the family
activities and t-test is used for the leisure awareness and leisure attitude. It was
found that many appears to participate in family leisure and mainly in
home-oriented activities and physical activity. Recommendation of parents and
forming a family relationship was their motivation and many students participate
once every other week. Findings showed that many students satisfied with the
family leisure, were aware of the need of family leisure, and family leisure
participation helps to build family relationship. Also, there is a difference of leisure
awareness and leisure attitude with family leisure participation. In summary
conclusions, after 5-day week school system, the changing in family leisure is
positive and family leisure effects on leisure awareness and attitudes of middle
school students.
