This study has been conducted through the survey in the areas of Busan,
Changwon and Gimhae to investigate the relationship between the self-directed
learning and self-esteem of the female married immigrant employed, and the result
has been produced based on analyzing 161 copies of the survey. Firstly, as of the
difference between the readiness of self-directed learning and the self-esteem
based on the ability of Korean language and occupational classification, there were
meaningful differences with the statistical significance level of .05 in the 6 sub
factors including Love of learning, Self-conviction as a learner, Openness to a
challenge, Inquisitive natures of learning, Self-understanding and Awareness of the
responsibility in learning, but no difference in Self-esteem. Secondly, as of the
readiness of self-directed learning based on the educational background, there were
meaningful differences in only the three factors including Love of learning,
Self-conviction as a learner and Awareness of the responsibility in learning, but no
difference in Self-esteem. And as of the readiness of self-directed learning based
on the number of children, there were meaningful differences in only the three
factors including Openness to a challenge, Self-understanding and Awareness of
the responsibility in learning. Thirdly, there were no differences in the factors of
the readiness of self-directed learning and self-esteem based on the length of
residence in Korea with the statistical significance level of .05. Finally, there was a
static correlation between the readiness of self-directed learning and self-esteem,
consequently, it was verified that as the readiness of self-directed learning got
higher, self-esteem also got higher.
