본 연구는 국내 성인교육학의 양적성장과 함께 학문적 정체성 확립을 위해 학술지분 석을 통한 성인교육학의 연구동향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 국내 성인교육학 분야의 대표 적 학술지인 ‘Andragogy Today’와 ‘평생교육학연구’에 2005년부터 2012년까지 게재된 총 489편의 연구논문을 대상으로 하였고, 주저자의 지역별 분포, 소속별 분포, 연구대상, 연구주제, 연구방법을 분석준거로 사용하였다. 특히 1995년부터 2004년까지 ‘Andragogy Today’와 ‘평생교육학연구’에 게재된 논문을 분석한 곽삼근과 최윤정(2005) 연구와 1998 년부터 2008년까지 ‘Andragogy Today'에 게재된 논문을 분석한 최은수 외(2009) 연구의 분석 준거를 사용하여 1995년부터 2012년까지 한국 성인교육학의 연구동향을 전체적으 로 보여주었다. 연구결과, 주저자의 수도권 편중이 68.1%로 크고, 대학 소속 편중이 80.6%로 매우 크며, 연구대상은 기관이 22.3%로 가장 많이 나타났다. 연구주제는 1995 년부터 2004년까지 평생교육과정 및 프로그램에 대한 연구가 가장 많은데 반해 2005년 부터 2012년까지는 평생학습자 및 학습자 집단에 대한 연구가 가장 많은 것으로 나타 나 성인교육학 연구에서의 다양한 평생학습자에 대한 최근의 관심 급증을 보여주었다. 연구방법과 관련해서는 문헌연구가 43.4%로 가장 많이 활용되고 있으나 양적연구와 질 적연구의 활용이 각각 28.4%와 22.7%로 나타나 연구방법의 다양화를 보여주었다. 본 연구는 학술지 분석을 통해 한국 성인교육학 연구의 특징과 발전방향을 위한 구체적 과제를 제시하였다.
The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends of adult education by investigating research papers published in Korean academic journals and to identify the characteristics of Korean adult education studies and its future direction. To investigate the research trends of the journals, the researcher reviewed 489 articles published in Andragogy Today, and The Journal of Lifelong Education, which are the two representative journals in adult education, from 2005 to 2012. Synthesizing related preceding studies, the framework used in this paper includes the regional distribution and field of the first author, research areas, subjects, and methodologies. As a result of the study, most first authors came from universities in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do and 'lifelong learner' was the most popular research area. Organizations were the most subject of study and literature review was main research method. Based on the review the academic journals, the researcher concludes the main characteristics of Korean adult education research and suggests tasks for Korean Adult Education as an independent research area.
