본 연구는 청소년시민성을 고찰하고, 한국 사회에서 나타나는 청소년시민 성을 언론이 어떻게 규정짓는지 조사하였다. 특히 2008년 미국산 쇠고기 수입 반대를 위한 촛불 집회에 대한 동아일보와 한겨레신문의 보도 분석을 통해 향 후 청소년들의 전반적인 삶에서의 시민성 함양을 위한 실제적인 활동을 모색할 수 있도록 하는 토대를 제공하고자 하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면, 첫째, 두 신 문 모두 청소년 촛불집회 관련 보도는 종합면에 가장 많이 분류되어 있었으나 심층적 취재나 인터뷰 형식이 차지하는 비중에는 차이를 보였다. 둘째, 두 신문 은 청소년의 참여에 대해 찬성과 반대로 대립되는 경향을 보였다. 셋째, 시기별 로 관련 보도 비율의 차이를 보였다. 넷째, 정부비판 프레임, 배후조종프레임, 집회세력옹호프레임, 인터넷과장프레임, 대응태도프레임, 집회현장갈등프레 임, 기타프레임으로 총 7개의 프레임이 도출된 가운데, 두 신문의 전체적 프레 임 활용 경향이 매우 대조적이었으며, 시기별 프레임 활용 경향 또한 마찬가지 로 나타났다. 결과적으로 청소년 시민성의 핵심인 참여, 특히 정치사회참여에 대한 사회적 인식이 언론매체에 따라 서로 다른 관점으로 묘사된다는 사실을 발견하였다.
This study reviewed youth citizenship theoretically and examined it with the articles of newspapers, Dong-A Ilbo and the Hankyoreh, about the candlelight rallies against U.S. Beef import. Purpose of this study is to form the groundwork for building up youth citizenship through practical activities. Results are as follows: First, both of newspapers classified the articles in total page but showed differences among types of in-depth news coverage or interviews. Second, there was a sharp division of opinions between those which approve and disapprove. Third, lots of percentage differences of articles following each period were founded. Lastly, there were criticism of government frame, string-pulling frame, supporting the rallier frame, exaggeration of the internet frame, responding frame, conflict in rallies frame and other frame in articles. Each of the newspaper used different frames totally, also there were lots of differences between frames following each period. As a result, youth participation which is core of youth citizenship, especially that of political and social was described differently according to media with different frames.
