The purpose of this article is to derive the implications of citizenship
education for theKorea's youth, through a comparisonwith Japanese citizenship
education
The main foci of citizenship education in Japan today are "vitality" and
"patriotic education".
Vitality is very extensive and inclusive concept to live an ordinary life in
the 21st century and in the field of citizenship education. Vitality is consisted of
three elements; problem-solving, humanity and health. Now is the time that
school violence often occurs, and youths are suffering for this. Therefore, vitality
is a concept that may be good for Korea's youth.
Patriotic education is necessary for the formation of national identity.
However, Youths need to interact with the someone in the other countries in an
era of in an era of internationalization. In this regard, it can be said that global
citizenship ismore required for the youth.
