본 연구를 통해 청소년들에게 사회·정치적인 문제를 공유하고 공론 화 장으로서의 역할을 수행하고 있는 인터넷이 청소년의 사회·정치참여 를 예측하는지에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 인터넷 변인(인터넷 정보 활용 도와 인터넷 정보에 대한 신뢰도) 이외에 청소년의 온·오프라인 정치참 여를 예측하는 변인으로 정치관심도 정치효능감, 부모 및 또래 집단과의 대화 변인 등을 투입하였다. 전국의 고등학교 청소년 3,443명이 피험자 로 선정되었으며, 온·오프라인 정치참여3)에 영향을 미치는 예측변인을 파악하기위해 로지스틱 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 온라인 참여유형 I, II, 오프라인 참여유형 III, IV 모두에서 청소년의 참여와 비참여를 유의 하게 예측해 주는 변인으로 친구·선배와의 대화변인과 인터넷을 통한 정 보활용변인이 확인되었다. 아버지와의 대화변인은 오프라인 참여유형 III (Wald=3.735, p=.053)을 제외한 모든 참여유형을 예측해 주었다. 어머 니와의 대화변인은 온라인 참여유형 I에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 정치효 능감은 온라인 유형 II의 정치참여와 비참여에 유의하게 영향을 미치는 예측 변인으로 검증되었다. 정치관심도와 인터넷 정보에 대한 신뢰도는 어떠한 유형의 청소년 정치참여·비참여를 유의하게 예측하지 못하였다. 연구결과는 인터넷 같은 미디어 플랫폼과 부모(아버지)와의 사회·정치적 대화는 청소년들에게 중요한 문제가 공론화 될 수 있는 소통공간을 제공 함으로써 참여역량을 증진시키는 중요한 수단임을 시사하고 있다.
This study aimed to analyze to what extent the Internet played in predicting the political participation of young people. In addition to Internet-related variables(use of Internet for information and reliability in the information in the Internet), political interest, political efficacy, conversation with parents or friends were input in the analysis. This study was based on the survey conducted on 3,443 high school students and logistic regression analysis was used. The result showed that conversation with friends and utilization of Internet information were confirmed as significant variables which predicted all types of participation. Conversation with father predicted three types of participation excepting for type III, while conversation with mother affected significantly type I. Political interest and reliability in Internet did not predict any kind of participation. These results suggest that Internet and political conversation with father provide youths with important participatory democratic sphere where issues critical to them are debated and communicated.
