In Hegel's philosophy the Absolute is determined as Spirit or the Idea of freedom whose essence lies in the movement of absolute negativity. In respect to this self-transcending movement the Absolute negates itself and returns into itself. By negating itself the Absolute falls asunder and is related to the finite beings or the finite self-consciousness. This self-development of the Absolute is conceived of as the process that the Absolute proves its existence. It is worth noting here that for Hegel the self-development of the Absolute can be accomplished by virtue of the historicity, which the finite conscious-beings constitute. Thus history, more precisely, the world history is understood as a realm where the Absolute develops itself and returns into itself. In returning into itself the finite human beings become conscious of their own essence, namely freedom, and realize it. In this respect the world history is regarded as the progress toward the idea of freedom and also the movement of the Absolute toward its own end. From this point of view, for Hegel the realization of the Absolute as the idea of freedom could be accomplished on the basis of the history of finite human beings.
