본 연구는 한국에서 출생하여 농촌지역에 거주하는 다문화 청소년과 다문화 담당 교사들을 대상으로 다문화 청소년들이 지각하는 생활경험 탐색을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 다문화 청소년 대상으로 현장 연구를 진행하였으며, 다문화 청소년을 문제 집단으로 바라보는 시각에서 벗어나 문화 배경 차이를 인정하고 다양성을 이해하며 이들이 가진 자원과 부족한 측면을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 중학교에 재학 중인 다문화 청소년 9명에 대해 심층면접을 실시하였으며, 다문화 담당 교사 10명에 대해서는 자기보고식 설문조사를 실시하였다. 다문화 청소년 면접 자료는 현상학적 연구방법인 Colaizzi 연구절차에 따라 자료를 비교분석하였으며, 교사 대상으로는 자기보고식 설문조사 실시 후 내용분석을 실시하였다. 자료를 범주화한 결과 농촌 거주 다문화 청소년 경험은 3개 범주, 6개 주제군, 22개 주제였다. 농촌거주 다문화 청소년들의 생활경험 지각 3가지 범주는 ‘다문화 관련’, ‘주변 생활관련’, ‘미래 관련’으로 나타났으며, 이러한 분석 결과에 기초하여 다문화 청소년 관련 정책 방향성과 지원 방안에 대한 제언을 하였다.
The purpose of this study was to explore the life experiences of multicultural youth who were born in small rural cities and the teachers who teach these youth. For the purpose of this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with 9 multicultural youth and self-reported questionnaires were given to 10 teachers of multicultural youth. This study is an attempt to understand multicultural youth from an unbiased perspective and respecting their cultural diversity and recognize the cultural differences. The data thus gathered were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological method and the teacher data were analyzed based on contents analysis. The perception of life experience of the cultural youth revealed 3 final categories, 6 clusters themes, and 22 clusters. The final 3 categories consist of ‘cultural’, ‘life’, ‘future’. According to the teachers for multicultural youth, multicultural youth experienced some degree of difficulty in school life, relationships with both teachers and peers but adapted well. Support plans for multicultural youth include teaching them ways to promote self-confidence, how to relate to and so as how to relate to their parents. Based on these results, the findings will provide some useful information about how to best provide future support to multicultural youth policy and accompanying plans.
