The purpose of this paper is to examine aspects of scientifical
development which leads from philosophy of Toegye to Silhak, by
analyzing XinJingFuZhu of Silhak school. In addition, I study what a
point which succeeds philosophy of Toegye in the studies of Yi-Ik and
Jeong-Yagyong who is known that which rests on basis on philosophy
of Toegye, and the point which passes over it. To achieve this, first
of all, I examine stance of Jo-Mok and Jeong-Gu who is based on
XinJingFuZhu of Silhak school. Jo-Mok put the question about humanity
of Jeong-Minjeong by stating the reason there is a stance of
Xiangshanxue(象山學) in XinJingFuZhu. Jeong-Gu agreed with Jo-Mok’s
perspective, and deletes Jeong-Mingjeong’s annotation from XinJing
and made a new description SimKyeongBalHui. He shew critical
perspective of XinJingFuZhu. perpective like these leads to stance of
XinJingFuZhu of Yi-Ik and Yoon-Gwangso. Yi-Ik holds ground which
has to balance ‘honoring the moral nature(尊德性)’ and ‘following the
path of study and inquiry(道問學)’ in SimKyeongBuJuJilSeo, and excluded
domain which can be conceived of as Xiangshanxue from XinJingFuZhu.
These reveals in Yoon-Gwangso too. Jeong-Yagyong acepts XinJing
as important text of ‘mind cultivation’, realizes self-cultivation on the
basis. He clarifies his critical position about out-and-out ‘honoring the
moral nature’ which shows in XinJing. It is the criticism of denying
scriptures and only concentrating on the letter of ‘honoring the moral
nature’. It means that perspective of XinJing which leads to Jeong-Gu,
Jo-Mok and Yi-Ik. Merely, Yi-Ik does not see justice and profit as
contradictory, or Jeong-Yagyong understands the nature of man as
tastes. These point means that which the distance starts from philosophy
of Toegye. This paper identifies that a context of philosophy of Toegye,
which leads to Jo-Mok and Jeong-Gu, is moved to philosophy of Toegye
in the Geongi district focused on contents like these, and at the same
times, examines point which departs from philosophy of Toegye on
understanding of mind.
