이 글은 개화기의 박물관, 박물원 개념의 도입과 전파, 개화기 위정자들의 박물관과 박람회에 대한 계몽?교육적 기대효과, 개화기?대한제국기의 뮤지엄과 엑스포 정책의 배경과 성과를 분석하고자 한다. 이 연구를 통해서 뮤지엄 개념을 재정립하고, 엑스포 정책의 변화를 촉진하고자 한다. 우리 모두가 박물원, 박물관, 미술관, 과학관, 동물원, 식물원, 천문대, 수족관 등을 포괄하는 의미의 뮤지 엄을 학술용어로 채택하여 사용하게 되면 뮤지엄 공동체가 외연을 확장할 수 있고, 다양성 속에 통합 과 지속가능한 성장을 이끌어 갈 수 있을 것이다. 또한 우리 모두가 박람회와 전람회 등을 포괄할 수 있는 엑스포를 학술용어로 채택하여 사용하게 되면 엑스포 공동체가 외연을 확장하면서 다양한 사업체와 다채로운 이용자들이 조화 속에 녹색성장을 추구하게 될 것이다. 뮤지엄이 학술진흥과 문화융성에 이바지할 수 있는 기관이라면, 엑스포는 산업진흥과 기술혁신을 이끌어가는 이벤트라고 할 수 있다. 개화기와 대한제국기의 뮤지엄과 엑스포 정책을 분석해 보면, 앞으로 우리는 박람회 참가와 개최를 통해서 뮤지엄을 설립하고, 다양한 뮤지엄을 기반으로 문화융 성과 기술혁신을 선도할 수 있도록 정책을 입안하여 시행하고, 평가를 통해서 보완함으로써 뮤지엄 공동체를 융성하게 할 필요가 있다. 또한 다양한 엑스포 참가와 개최를 통해서 자연생태환경과 역사 문화예술 분야의 기억을 축적하고, 창의성을 기반으로 사회변화를 추구할 필요가 있다. 엑스포를 기 억할 수 있는 뮤지엄을 설립?운영하는 것이 개최한 엑스포산업의 부가가치 창출과 엑스포 공동체 의 지속적인 성장에도 크게 이바지할 것이다.
I attempt to analyze introduction and diffusion to the concept of museum, general museum, and exposition, expectation of enlightenment and education by the politicians in the time of enlightenment, the policies of museum establishment, and the background and achievement in the Daehan Empire period, and the Japanese colonial period. Through these studies, I aim to re-establish the concept of museum, and promote the change of exposition policy. Finally, analysing the trend of museum and exposition policies before the year of 1910, I attempt to suggest the directionality essential for the era of culture, and the governance efficiency of museum and exposition. If all of us adopt a museum as a terminology included the meaning of a composed museum, a museum, an art museum, a science museum, a zoo, a botanical garden, planetarium, aquarium etc., the museum community can broadens its extension, and leads the unification in diversity, and sustainable development. All of us also adopt an exposition as a terminology included the meaning of an exposition and an exhibition, the exposition community can expand a denotation as well as purses to a sustainable development in harmony with various enterprises and diversified visitors. If a museum is an instituts to serve an academic promotion and cultural prosperity, a exposition is an event to lead an industrial promotion and technological innovation. Analysing the museum and exposition policies in the time of enlightenment to the Daehan Empire, we need to prosper the museum community to establish a museum through participating and organizing an exposition, to design and execute the policies, and to feedback them through evaluations, we are able to lead a cultural prosperity and technological innovation based on various museums in the future. And also through participating and organising an exposition, we need to accumulate memories in the field of history, culture and arts and pursue a social change based on creativity. Establishing and managing a museum to memory the exposition will make a great contribution to the added value creation of exposition industry held and also the sustainable development of the exposition community.
