The purpose of this study is to examine the impact on career barriers by career decision level and
gender role stereotypes of female college students. The survey was conducted by female college students,
and the methods of data analysis were as follows. First, frequency analysis and descriptive statistic analysis
were performed to identify demographic characteristics. Second, correlation analysis was performed to find
out the relationship among gender role stereotypes, career decision level and career barriers. Third, multiple
regression analysis was performed to examine the impact on career barriers by career decision level and
gender role stereotypes of female college students.
As a result, career decision level and gender role stereotypes of female college students are closely
related with career barriers, and the stereotypes and career decision level affect on career barriers. In
particular, lack of career preparation which is one of career barriers including personal, psychological, social,
and environmental factors is the biggest career barrier to decide a career. It means that career decision
actually disturb the college student to have a career choice and career barriers.
These results suggest that career decision should which affect on career barriers be examined consistently,
and career education programs should be developed to solve the problem caused by career barriers. This
study can provide basis data and a variety of ways to help female college students who have considerable
difficulty in determining their career choices and career barriers.
