This study attempted to provide a foundation for the promotion of regular eco-play based
on an early childhood environment education program and to provide effective management of
the environment education program for kindergarten. The study investigated how the children's
environmental education, which is based on eco-play from the early childhood environment
education program, influences children's pro-environmental and environment-preservation
attitudes. These are a subcategory of three-year-old children's environmental education.
The participants were twenty children aged three at A kindergarten located in
Eun-Pyung-Gu, Seoul. The children were exposed to eco-play based on an early childhood
environment education program once a week for ten weeks. The analysis tool for the children's
environment-friendly attitudes was CATES-PV (the Children's Attitudes Toward the
Environment Scale, Preschool Version).
The results of the study were as follows. First, the children who experienced the eco-play
based on an early childhood environment education program showed improvement in their
environment-friendly attitudes. Second, the children who experienced the eco-play based on an
early childhood environment education program improved their nature-friendly attitudes. Third,
the children who experienced the eco-play based on an early childhood environment education
program improved their environment conservation attitudes.
