The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of anti-bias themed children’s
book-reading activity on multicultural consciousness and human rights sensitivity in order to
establish conditions to realize more extended integrated education in the aspect of accepting
diversity by promoting ordinary students’ acceptance for and social relations with disabled
students or multicultural students. To solve the above goals of this study, the researcher
selects 60 students from two second grade-classes at J Elementary School located in T City,
G-do. After, the experiment group of 30 students were treated with the representation strategy
instruction during 20 periods twice a week and the control group of 30 students were treated
direct instruction. Next, The data were treated to obtain mean and standard deviation as
descriptive statistics and perfomed ANCOVA to verify the difference of the effect. The results
of this study are as follows.
First, it was found that the anti-bias themed children’s book-reading activity exerted positive
effects in enhancing the integrated class students’ multicultural consciousness.
Second, it was found that the anti-bias themed children’s book-reading activity indicated
positive effects in developing the integrated class students’ human rights sensitivity positively.
