Maturational children are liable to express their feelings by scrabbling or painting in their own way because they are poor at making good use of language in usage. According to the maturational process, a child has each characteristic expression, each development having its unique order and steps of expressing development. This research is mainly focused on providing the base on which we can, far more, understand a child’s painting expression that before, so that I would like to turn out the naturally expressional characteristics concerning the developmental steps of maturation and to compare each case with another samples in order to positively get the picture of a child’s painting expression. With analyzing V. Lowenfeld’s study, C. Burt’s, R. Kellogg’s, Kim Jeong’s, Aokisesiro’s, and comparing them with the results of this note, I tried to grasp the current of the development of painting expression as a subjective opinion of research history. And I researched the characteristics according to different analyses of color, perspective and description, selecting a random sample of 337 paintings children at 5 to 9 without consideration of their gender and living milieu. As a result, each characteristic of the previous researches showed that there was a sort of the similar development to the proper age-level of picked-up children but what this research proved to be is the characteristic that, rather than the way of expression according to a child’s age and gender, children were apparently apt to be influenced by their feelings and stimuli without. And then we, at this moment, have desperate need of providing the conditioned facilities and surroundings in which children can express all of creative possibilities incited by stimuli without, that they can walk around their world of expression, free and exciting, and we also require teachers’ and parents’ great endeavor of leading their children to relaxation and equal opportunities.
