The purpose of this study was to explore character and school adjustment factors based on participation of
elementary school student in sports activities. In order to accomplish the purpose of this study a survey was
conducted with 365 elementary school students in Gyoengi-do and Inchon Metropolitan areas who are taking
part in after school sports activities. As for research tools used in this study, the measures of sport character
developed by Eum and Seong (2012) and school adjustment factors developed by Kim (2002) was modified
and supplemented as research tools to this study's subject and purposes. Frequency analysis, exploratory
factor analysis, reliability analysis, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. The
data analyses based on the above have derived the following results. First, the level of participation in sports
activities influenced confidence, responsibility, concentration, self-respect, sociality, honesty, and selfmanagement
of character. Second, the frequency of sports activities influenced the factors of peer relation, and
school rule of school adjustment. These results were discussed in terms of psychological, social?emotional
and character based on participation of elementary school students in sports activities.
