The purpose of this research is to examine internal effects of ‘successful story’ on parents who are its
readers in relation to career through the analysis on contents of ‘successful story’ among the contents of
women's magazine. There are a few opportunities to participate in parents' career education and a few
budgets/expenditures for domestic purchase of books. As a source of data for parents' decision making of
children's career, women's magazine is in charge of very important roles of informal learning. The subject
of this research was total 24 volumes published in 2013, such as Lady Kyunghyang and Women Sense,
and content analysis was used for the analysis of research. According to the advanced researches, women's
magazine provides image and illusion to readers and readers experience process of imagination and mimesis
during the interaction with one artifact, women's magazine. With the frame of analysis, the subject of
research was analyzed. As the result, women's magazine emphasizes only positive aspect of success
excessively without provision of objective career information as a leisure media and informal learning media.
So, it could make negative effects on readers' career judgement. The proposals of this research are as
follows. For the suggestion of successful story of women's magazine an information related to career, not
only positive aspects but also negative aspects should be suggested so as to be helpful for improvement of
readers' career judgement.
