본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 노래극 활동이 영아의 몸짓 언어와 어휘력 발달에 미치는 영향을 알아 보는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 W시에 위치한 물리적?인적환경 조건이 유사한 2곳의 어린이집 에 재원중인 만 1세반 4학급의 영아를 실험집단과 비교집단으로 분류하고, 이중 실험집단을 대상으 로 그림책을 활용한 노래극 활동을 진행하였다. 연구효과를 분석하기 위해 몸짓 언어와 어휘력에 대 한 사전검사와 사후검사를 실시하고, 평균과 표준편차를 산출하였으며, 두 집단의 사전검사 점수를 공변인으로 한 공변량분석(ANCOVA)을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그림책을 활용한 노래극 활동은 영아의 의사소통적 몸짓언어 발달에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 몸짓언어 전체와 지시적 몸짓, 관습적 몸짓, 표상적 몸짓 모두에서 유의미한 차이가 나타 났으며, 그 하위구인으로는 건네주기, 고개 끄덕이기, 손 흔들기, 쌓기, 숟가락 이용 먹이기, 푸기 등 에 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 그림책을 활용한 노래극 활동은 영아의 어휘력 발달 에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 언어와 음악의 통합적 접근으로 그림책을 활용한 노래극 활동은 영아의 몸짓언어와 어휘력 발달을 촉진하는 효과적인 활동으로 영아 를 위한 교육현장에 적용할 수 있음을 논의하였다.
This study seeks to identify the effects that theater play activities that use nursery rhyme books with images have on the development of gestures and vocabulary in young children. The study subjects were children of age one and a half enrolled in four classes at two child care centers located in Wonju City, Korea. The two child care centers were similar in terms of physical environment and human resources. The subjects were divided into an experiment group and a control group. The experiment group participated in singing theater activities that used nursery rhyme books with images. In order to analyze the results of the study effects, a pre-test and post-test were conducted on the gesture and vocabulary of the children and the mean and standard deviation were calculated, after which ANCOVA was conducted using the pre-test scores of the two groups as a common variable. The study findings can be summarized as follows: First, singing theater activities that use nursery rhymes with images had a positive effect on the development of communication gesture and language among young children. There were significant differences in overall gesture, indicative gesture, habitual gesture and superficial gesture, as well as in the sub-categories of handing over items, nodding, waving, piling objects, feeding and lifting items. Second, singing theater activities using nursery rhymes with images had a positive effect on the development of vocabulary among young children. Based on such findings, this paper argues that singing theater activities using nursery rhymes with images can be used as an effective tool in promoting the development of gestures and vocabulary by applying an approach that integrates language and music.
