플라톤의 대화편 정치가는 국가,법률과 함께 정치철학적 관점에서 교육을 다루고 있는 주요한 대화편이다. 국가의 철학자와 사실상 동일한 개념인 정치가?의 정치가는 지혜를 통해 이데아를 직관 할 수 있는 능력을 보유하고, 정의의 덕목과 연결되는 적도에 따른 분류와 결합의 방법으로 그 이데아의 전형을 시민들에게 전달할 수 있는 존재이며, 절제된 용기를 통해 이데아의 덕목을 현실세계에 구현할 수 있는 역량을 갖춘 지도적 인재상이다. ?정치가?는 국가와 메논편을 중심으로 진행되어온 교육학 계의 연구 영역을 확장하는 대화편이라는 점에서 의의가 크며 ?국가?에서 철학자들의 탐구방법으로 명 명되었으나 구체화되지 않은 변증술에 대한 설명을 담고 있다는 점에서도 중요한 연구 대상이다. 아울러 ?정치가에 등장하는 정치지도자는 도식적 차원의 4주덕이 아닌, 다양한 방식으로 지혜, 정의, 용기, 절 제의 덕목을 활용하고 있다는 점에서 이러한 지도자의 모형은 교육적 인간상에 대한 논의를 더욱 풍부 하게 할 수 있다. 아울러 정치가의 정치지도자는 정치적 기술뿐만이 아닌 내면적 덕목이 잘 조화된 지 도적 인물로서 인성과 덕성을 겸비한 인물이라는 차원에서 오늘날 교육학의 방향 모색에 적잖은 시사점 을 제공한다.
In this paper, I tried to examine and clarify the educational implication in Plato's Statesman(Politikos) which links the Republic(Politeia) and the Laws(Nomoi). Even though the Republic is well known to its theory of Idea and philosopher-king, the Statesman customize and develop the theory of Idea and the dialectics for implementing the manuscript in real society. The role of Idea in the Statesman is the paradeigma in ancient Greek which has dual meaning: one is the ideal model and manuscript for building new polis, the other is the example to explain the theory of Idea to ordinary people in the society. The original image of the ideal polis is represented in the myth of Cronos and Zeus. The theory of Plato's ideal polis in the Laws(Nomoi ) is inherited from the Statesman. Dialectics is the method to figure out the Idea. Dialectics assists us to identify the structure the Idea and to make ordinary people understand by exemplification. Separation and combination are the procedure for the dialectics, and the proper standard(metron) needed to find out the real definition of the Idea. Mean and harmony are the practical method to realize the paradeigma in real society. Plato focused on both the personal soul(psyche) and social structure. Prudence and courage are the tendency of the soul which are poles apart, and harmonizing each of it by education is the core of personal education in the Statesman. In social structure, combining the rule by philosopher and the laws is the best way to realize the manuscript in real society, which is also necessary the correct judgement of the statesman; same meaning and function of the philosopher in the Republic.
