This study presents the results of a qualitative analysis using the grounded theory of runaway adolescents in which they describe their experiences with suicidal behaviors. The participants for the interviews were eight male and female adolescents residing in a safe-shelter from February 2004 to March 2004. As a result, it was found that they experienced life stress as family conflict and difficulties in friendship, and used avoidance strategies. But they had little survival and psychosocial resources including self-esteem, problem-solving ability and social support. Therefore it is recommended to provide intervention to decrease runaway adolescent suicidal behaviors. Keywords: runaway adolescent, suicidal behavior.
