this study analyzed the functional ego state and life position of alcoholics who were hospitalized in treatment course focusing on transactional analysis theory and tried to examine the mutual relevance between life position and functional ego state. To examine the life position and functional ego state of the study subjects, ego-gram was prepared that showed functional ego state by graphs; OK-gram was prepared that showed life attitude by graphs. Relevance of functional ego state and life position was analyzed together with ego-gram and OK-gram. For study process, this process investigated through questionnaire on alcoholics hospitalized in 4 mental hospitals that allowed collection of data and had alcohol ward for treatment of alcohol addiction among mental hospitals. SPSS(10.0) For Windows program was used for analysis and treatment of collected materials. With regard to functional ego state of all subjects, CP was low and AC was high, showing life position of I\'m Not OK-You\'re OK. In addition, as a result of analyzing the relevance between functional ego state and life position through ego-gram and OK-gram, I\'m Not OK score was low showing the trend of suppressing emotion and behavior in connection with emotion of others since AC score is higher than FC while internal self-esteem is lack and not strict on himself with low score of I\'m Not OK, and easily falling into the gloomy and hostile emotion state. In addition, it is high likely to feel the sense of inferiority and that one is insufficient against others since You\'re OK was high and I\'m OK was low. In addition, they were found to be in trouble easily as they tried to do good to others without standard and failed to deny for face-saving and failed to separate responsible behavior, public and private matters since CP score is lower than NP score, showing the feature of life position and weak functional ego state of alcoholics.
