In order to determine the change in the levels of participants, this research was done by using qualitative studying methods through the experience of participants with learning disabilities. For the research, six participants with learning disabilities who reside in the special facility were throughly interviewed and as a method to study the participants who are not able to communicate well, conversation analysis was used which is highly utilizable. As a result, the participations of people with learning disabilities was verified with five categories including \"selection of residential environment on their own,” \"free environment”, \"free life” \"self acceptance” and \"hope for independent living\".
Not all of the participants were able to choose their residential environment with their strong will. However, those who willingly entered the facility were satisfied with their lives because they were leading a flexible life in which they could have meals and have association with opposite gender freely and enjoy free time. Moreover, their rights to express their opinions and their shelters, meals and clothing could be guaranteed and with the support from the friends and staffs, the participants were experiencing acceptance in the community. However, some problems such as strict regulations for safety, pressure from the relationship with professionals and invasion of privacy were raised. It was determined that some of the people with learning disabilities have goals of getting a job and be a part of a community and ultimately to have a independent life.
The results has verified that the research has influenced and changed the lives of participants and these changes strengthen their individual ability to adapt to different environments. Furthermore, it was also determined that such programs which can embrace the participants, prevent the social and psychological isolation of people with learning disabilities and the support from the society are necessary. With those programs and the support, the people with learning disabilities can establish sense of self and ultimately they could come to contribute to the unity of society.
