The purpose of this study is to obtain the implications for developing teacher education
research in Korea, by exploring research trends of teacher education in the U.S. Research on
teacher education in U.S. has been actively conducted over the last half century. In so
doing, this study analyzed 419 research papers which was published in Journal of Teacher
Education from the year 2000 to 2013 from the perspective of research design and research
questions. It was found that when it comes to research questions, much more detailed
research questions were asked and investigated. In particular, there has been active research
on philosophical discussion, theories and methodologies of teacher education. When it comes
to research design, a variety of research designs such as qualitative, quantitative, and mixed
research.
