The military social welfare is a kind of the various professional social welfares. However, the academia and the military have different opinions with some factors such as services, working conditions and so on even though both of them agree with that they need the Military Social Welfare institutionalization. The military focuses their attention on the promotion for their servicemen and their families so far through the several services that are provided officially from the department of military welfare such as the relaxation facilities. On the other hand, the academia has researched on health, welfare and family for not only the military servicemen and their families, but also retired men and their families since the Military Social Welfare Academy was established in September, 2006. So, the academia tries to expand the Military Social Welfare Area. The military of Korea has a problem that they do not catch what their people want as they do their duties, which are changed every one or two years. In spite of there are debates about the importance of the Military Social Welfare, the Department of Military Policy thinks that it is hard the active welfare and military human resources are developed with the budget quota that is driven for the business every year. Therefore, the military social welfare has to be institutionalized with professional military social workers who have missions to solve several problems for the military servicemen and their families. For example, they work for a serviceman who has an economic problem, a maladjusted man in the military, the military families, or the life after military officers retire. Also, it is impended to arrange the professional military social workers, who are for not only the military human resources and budget, but also the quality of individual life in the military.
