With an increasing needs for assuring the quality of social work education, this paper focuses on the social work accreditation. It reviews the global social work educational standards of the International Association of School of Social Work and some accreditation standards from the Council on Social Work Education of the US. It draws attention to some implications of the accreditation experiences of other academic fields such as engineering and business administration. In the interest of providing some guidelines on educational accreditation standards, this paper lays out five basic features of the social work education including educational goals and program objectives, curriculum, faculty, students, and educational resources/ administrative system. It is important to undertake specialized procedures and develop strategies which educational institutions accomodate various inputs for promoting academic excellence and professional competence of social work programs in Korea. key words: accreditation of social work education, social work education.
