이 연구는 초등학생의 부모-자녀간 의사소통과 부모지원 및 운동참가의 관계를 실증적 연구를 통하여 밝히고자 하였다. 2010년 현재 충청북도 소재 초등학교에 재학중인 4~6학년 학생 344명이 분석에 활용되었다. 연구도구는 Barnes & Olson(1982)의 부모-자녀간 의사소통 척도, Bowen & Chapman(1996)의 부모지원 척도가 사용되었으며, 독립표본 t검증, 중다상관분석, 중다회귀분석, 경로분석을 실시하였다. 연구를 통해 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성별에 따른 부모-자녀간 의사소통, 부모지원 및 운동참가는 일부 변인에서 의미있는 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 부모-자녀간 의사소통은 부모지원 및 운동참가에 긍정적으로 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 부모-자녀간 의사소통, 부모지원 및 운동참가의 각 요인간에는 직접 및 간접적 인과 관계가 성립되었다. 결론적으로 부모-자녀 간 개방적 의사소통은 자녀의 운동참가에 중요한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 밝혀졌다.
The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships among parent-adolescent communication, parenting support and sport participation of their children. The subjects of this study who were sampled 344 elementary school students in Chungbuk province using a purposive sampling method. Data were collected through the questionnaire based on Barnes & Olson(1982)'s Parent-Adolescent Communication Inventory and Bown & Chapman(1996)'s Parenting Support Scale. The independent sampled t-test, multiple correlation, multiple regression and path analysis were used in order to exam the relationships among variables. Based upon the result of this study, the following conclusions were drawn as follows: Frist, There are significant difference between parent-adolescent communication, parenting support and sport participation of their children. Second, parent-adolescent communication influence positively on parenting support and sport participation of their children. Third, parent-adolescent communication, parenting support and sport participation factors bring out direct or indirect causal effects among their children.
