Pestalozzi has just been regarded as the man who was a father of orphan
and a good educator loving children. But it has some limitations. It is because
he was one of the most important educational practitioners, educational theorists
and philosophers beyond a good educator. Pestalozzi is a symbolic example of
the reflective practitioner who is based on principle of intuition, spontaneity,
harmony. Today it is necessary to go back to the basic in education. So, it is
needed to review Pestalozzi\'s significance to education in which there are so
many educational problems. This study aims to explore Pestalozzi\'s thoughts on
education and to find out his influences on lifelong education. For this, a wide
range of literatures on him is reviewed and analysed. By doing so, this study
looks into how his thoughts has melted into lifelong education, for example, the
education for all, self-directed learning, multi-cultural education, and so on.
