본 연구의 목적은 Lattice 곱셈 방법이 정신지체 학생의 곱셈연산능력에 미치는 영향을 조사 하는데 있다. 본 연구의 참여자는 초등학교 3, 4학년에 재학 중인 정신지체 학생 3명이며, 중재 효과를 조사하기 위하여 단일대상 연구 설계법의 하나인 대상자간 중다 간헐 기초선 설계를 사용하였다. 연구 결과, 중재가 실시되자 모든 연구 참여자의 곱셈연산능력이 기초선에 비해 현저하게 향상되었고, 중재가 종료된 후에도 중재시 습득한 Lattice 곱셈 방법을 유지하는 것 으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 Lattice 곱셈 방법이 초등학교 정신지체 학생의 곱셈연산능력 에 효과적이었음을 알 수 있었다.
The purpose of the this study was designed to examine the effect of lattice multiplication method on multiplication abilities of students with mental retardation. The participants were three elementary school students, one 3-grade and two 4-grade students with mental retardation. A single subject, multiple probe across participants was employed to investigate intervention effects on multiplication abilities of students with mental retardation. The lattice multiplication method consisted of 5 steps and performance assessment tests were comprised of 10 questions. Lattice multiplication method immediately increased all participant's multiplication scores. Such changes were maintained after the intervention was discontinued. Implication for practice and limit of this study's result were discussed.
