본 연구에서는 Bandura의 자기효능감 이론을 기초로 가정환경맥락에서 부모역할수행에 적용가능한 ‘부모효 능감’이라는 개념을 소개하였다. 본 연구자들은 성인학습의 기초원리인 안드라고지의 실천적 개념으로 활 용될 수 있는 부모효능감이 높은 부모에 대하여 안드라고지에서 가정하는 성인학습자의 특성과 유사한 다 음의 공통점을 지닌 것으로 설명한다. 부모의 행동을 유발하는 내재적 동기로 작용하는 부모효능감이 높은 부모의 특징으로 첫째, 자녀양육과 부모-자녀와의 관계에 관한 문제해결에 있어서 자기주도성을 가지고 임 하며, 둘째, 생활과 학습을 통해 성공적으로 수행했던 부모의 경험이 부모효능감의 수준을 향상하는 강력한 근원으로 작용하며, 셋째, 부모효능감은 성인기의 사회적 역할이자 발달 과업인 부모역할을 수행하여 심리 적 복지감을 형성하려고 하며, 넷째, 효율적인 부모역할수행에 필요한 새로운 지식과 기술을 자발적으로 습 득하여 자녀를 위해 즉각적으로 적용하고자 한다. 즉 부모효능감은 현대사회에서 부모역할수행 및 자녀양 육에 있어 어려움을 겪고 있거나 자신감이 결여되기 쉬운 부모에게 요구되는 인지적 특성으로 부모교육을 통해 증진될 수 있는 개념으로 부각될 수 있다. 따라서 부모효능감은 안드라고지를 실천하는 새로운 전략 으로서 성인학습자인 부모를 위한 부모교육 프로그램에 활용될 때 전문화된 성인교육 프로그램으로서 개발 될 수 있을 것이다. 특히 본 연구에서는 부모효능감을 향상시키는 교육 프로그램의 모델로서 부모역할의 어려움이 더욱 큰 장애자녀의 부모를 위한 부모교육프로그램의 모형을 제시하였다. 이 프로그램을 위해 장 애 이해하기, 장애자녀의 부모 이해하기, 장애 자녀를 위한 부모역할 수행하기, 부모효능감 증진하기, 장애 자녀와 더불어 살기 등 다섯 가지 핵심 주제를 선정하여 각 회기별 교육내용을 논의하였다.
This study introduces the notion of “parent efficacy” that applied Bandura\'s self-efficacy theory to parents\' role in family context. Parent efficacy is suggested as a practical concept of Andragogy, thereby parents who have high levels of parent efficacy display the following characteristics of adult learners that Andragogy assumes. First, parents who are high in parent efficacy are self-directed in performing tasks of rearing their offsprings and building a more positive parent-child relationships. Second, parents\' successful experiences acquired throughout their life become significant sources of their parent efficacy. Third, parent efficacy can assist parents to have a higher degree of psychological well-being by performing their social and parental roles as a developmental task in adulthood. Forth, parents who are high in parent efficacy are actively engaged in learning new knowledge and sills to better accomplish parental roles and apply them immediately to their life situations. Fifth, parent efficacy serves as an internally motivating factor resulting desirable parental behaviors. Parent efficacy could be a new strategy for parents who easily tend to have lack of confidence in their parenting. This study proposed the following five core themes of parent education for parents who raise children with disability: understanding of disability, understanding parenting for children with disability, becoming effective parents for children with disability, understanding and enhancing parent efficacy, and living well together with the disabled. Parent efficacy could be powerful element that could be emphasized in developing new parent education programs. Considering the common traits of parents with high parent efficacy and self-directed adult learners, development of parent education programs to strengthen parent efficacy could be a good example of applying Andragogical principles in practice.
