멘토링과 코칭에 대한 수요와 인기가 높아지고 있어 학제적 연구와 접근이 요청되고 있다. 그러나 멘토링과 코칭분야를 안드라고지의 원리나 성인학습의 차원에서 이해하고 적용하려는 현장의 시도나 이와 관련된 체계적인 연구는 거의 부재한 실정이다. 따라서 이 논문은 멘토링과 코칭의 개념과 원리에서 학습이 중심개념임을 밝히고 대표적인 학 습이론인 자기주도적학습, 전환학습, 경험학습과 어떠한 관계가 있는지를 탐색하고자 하 였다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 멘토링과 코칭현장에서의 성인학습이론 적용을 바탕으 로 한 성인학습전략을 모색하였다. 연구의 접근방법은 문헌연구로서 안드라고지, 성인학 습 이론, 멘토링, 코칭 등에 대한 연구 중 학습과 연계한 문헌을 주로 참고하였으며, 비 공식적이 아닌 공식적인 멘토링과 코칭을 연구대상으로 삼았다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the concept and principle of mentoring and coaching, to draw linkage relations of major adults learning theories such as self directed learning, transformative learning, experiential learning into application to mentoring and coaching fields in order to improve the effects of mentoring and coaching learning on individual and organization participated in this program. The methodology applied was based on literature composed of adult learning theories, writings on dealing mentoring and coaching in terms of learning and the object of this study was not informal but formal mentoring and coaching. The contents of this research was composed of exploring major adults theories in the light of establishing the linkage of them to mentoring and coaching. The characteristic of this writing would be derived from the fact that mentoring and coaching were discussed in integration to the effect that they could be dealt with same learning psychology, especially adults learning theories. This research was played emphasis on comprehensive applications of major adults learning theories to concept and principle, and process of mentoring and coaching.
