통합교육에 대한 가치가 확대되고 의료공학이 발달됨에 따라 많은 청각장애유아들이 일반초등학교 로의 진학을 선택하고 있다. 그러나 통합교육을 선택한 청각장애아 중에는 일정 시간이 지난 후에 다시 청각장애학교로 복귀하는 현상이 나타나고 있다. 그 동안 많은 연구들은 이와 같은 현상에 대 한 문제점을 분석하고 개선방안들을 제시해 왔다. 그럼에도 불구하고 여전히 청각장애아의 통합교육 은 질적인 성공을 이루는데 어려움을 가지고 있다. 따라서 이 연구는 일반초등학교로의 전환을 앞두 고 있는 청각장애유아의 성공적인 통합교육을 준비하고 지원할 수 있는 전환교육의 필요성을 제안 하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 국내 청각장애아 통합교육의 현황과 문제점 및 개선 방안을 살펴보고, 이를 토대로 성공적인 통합교육 준비를 위한 전환교육의 필요성과 지원방안 등을 제시하 였다. 청각장애유아의 성공적인 초등학교 통합교육을 준비하기 위한 전환교육은 유아교육기관과 초 등학교기관 간의 프로그램 연계성 구축, 통합교육을 담당하는 교사의 전문성을 위한 제도적인 보완, 청각장애유아들이 통합교육 환경으로 전환되기 이전에 기본적으로 갖추어야 할 기술교육, 그리고 부 모의 적극적인 참여를 통하여 실행되어야 할 것을 제안하였다. 이를 토대로 향후에는 청각장애아의 성공적인 통합교육을 도모하기 위한 체계적인 전환교육 프로그램을 만들어 실행해야 할 것을 제언 하였다.
As the value of inclusive education is increased and medical technology is developed, many children with hearing impairment enter general elementary school rather than deaf school. However, some of the students who had selected inclusive education returned to deaf school after some period of time. Many researches analyzed the present situation and problems of inclusive education, and presented future directions on inclusion for students with hearing impairment. But, inclusive education has not been successful so far. This paper aims to present how transition education is important for the students with children with hearing impairment who are in the age of entering elementary school. Based on the situations, problems and improvement plans shown on inclusive education for children with hearing impairment, the need and support programs of transition education for successful inclusive education were presented in this study. For the preparation of successful inclusive education in elementary school for students with hearing impairment, it is essential to provide transition education with the children with hearing impairment before entering elementary school. Transition education for preparation of successful inclusive education to elementary school should be implemented through the programs linked between children education institution and elementary school institution, a system for professional teachers in charge of inclusive education, skills that children with hearing impairment should acquire before entering elementary school and program that parents should participate actively.
