As the value of inclusive education is increased and medical technology is developed, many children with
hearing impairment enter general elementary school rather than deaf school. However, some of the students
who had selected inclusive education returned to deaf school after some period of time. Many researches
analyzed the present situation and problems of inclusive education, and presented future directions on
inclusion for students with hearing impairment. But, inclusive education has not been successful so far.
This paper aims to present how transition education is important for the students with children with
hearing impairment who are in the age of entering elementary school. Based on the situations, problems
and improvement plans shown on inclusive education for children with hearing impairment, the need and
support programs of transition education for successful inclusive education were presented in this study. For
the preparation of successful inclusive education in elementary school for students with hearing impairment,
it is essential to provide transition education with the children with hearing impairment before entering
elementary school.
Transition education for preparation of successful inclusive education to elementary school should be
implemented through the programs linked between children education institution and elementary school
institution, a system for professional teachers in charge of inclusive education, skills that children with
hearing impairment should acquire before entering elementary school and program that parents should
participate actively.
