The purpose of this study was to research and analyze the actual conditions of management
and the needs of the staffs in lifelong education institutes for running lifelong education
programs for the individuals with disabilities living in Chungnam area, and to provide basic data
for human resource development(HRD) and for shaping a policy on lifelong education of
individuals with disabilities.
Questionnaires were made to find out the actual managerial conditions for the lifelong education
of individuals with disabilities and 287 papers were sent out to the staffs of lifelong education
institutes in Chungnam area, and then the collected questionares from 91 people were analyzed.
The results show that the lifelong education institutes in Chungnam have financial difficulty, which
is the biggest problem among others. They want to receive financial assistance from the local
government. Moreover, the staffs of those institutes request their local government to train lifelong
education specialists and also appeal to the local government for financial support, because they know
that the community is very much in need of lifelong education programs for individuals with disabilities.
In conclusion, it is requested that the government and local government, with strong will,
should actively support the lifelong education programs for individuals with disabilities and
strengthen publicity activities on these programs and construct a cooperative lifelong education
system for the individuals with disabilities.
