The purpose of this study was to conduct an educational needs analysis for
school principals in the context of outsourcing training programs. To do this,
this study analyzed the existing training content that were delivered for the last
two years, 2010-11. Then, the nominal group technique(NGT) was applied to
identify the principals' educational needs. Based on these analyses, the survey
questionnaire was developed. 1241 principals had been participated in the survey.
The findings of this study can be summarized as follows. First, there exists
many overlap contents in the existing training programs. Also, contents often do
not match the course titles. Therefore, program planning that is fitted to each
training objective is needed. Second, program areas that need to be addressed in
outsourcing training for school principals include leadership, strategic thinking,
program solving, teamwork and organizational development, self leadership and
self management, liberal arts and culture, school management and career
education. Third, elementary school principals showed more educational needs
than secondary school principals. Finally, based upon the findings, some practical
implications were discussed.
