This research was based on the interviews of children's parents with developmental disabilities. We
interviewed in-depth 16 main care givers to make welfare policies and provide services according to their
life course.
The results are as follows. In toddlers time, they had hard times with diagnosis of developmental
disability, misty anticipation of therapy, lack of educational environment. After toddlers period, they faced
several problems, such as a conflicts between regular school and school for handicapped children, social
stigma etc. In teen-ages, they were forced to stand their own feet, anxious about their future, and experienced
with poor programs. In adult period, they had no places to go and their parents felt burdensome physically
and financially because of family responsibilities and child-care pressures.
With these results, we would like to suggest several issues. First, there need a information center for
developmental disabilities. Nextly, education, therapy, and service center should be expanded. Thirdly,
extended service time and improved educational environment are needed. Lastly, we propose that day
care center should be prepared in shortly for adults with developmental disabilities.
