본 연구의 목적은 미술심리치료전공 박사 과정생이 수퍼비전에서 경험하는 미술작업을 통해 그들의 체 험을 탐색해봄으로써, 그것의 의미와 본질을 알아보는 것이다. 연구 참여자는 현재 미술심리치료 박사과정을 밟고 있거나 박사과정을 수료한 5명으로 구성되었다. 이들 은 미술심리치료 전공으로 석사학위를 취득한 후 미술심리치료 박사과정에 진학한 3명과 섬유예술, 예술 경영 전공으로 석사학위를 취득한 후 미술심리치료 박사과정에 진학한 2명으로 박사학위 과정에서 2학 기 이상 5학기 이하의 수퍼비전 교과목을 수강한 경험이 있다. 이들이 체험한 것의 의미를 이해하기 위해 해석학적 현상학의 질적 연구방법 중 Max van Manen의 연구 방법을 적용하여 2013년 4월에서 8월까지 연구 참여자들과의 심층면담을 통해 8개의 본질적 주제와 24 개의 하위구성요소로 결과를 도출하였으며, 이를 토대로 다음과 같은 세 가지 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 미술심리치료사로써 미술심리치료 회기경험을 수퍼비전에서 설명할 때, 미술작업 이 언어보다 분명하고 명료하게 수퍼바이저와 동료들에게 전달되는 힘을 경험한다. 둘째, 수퍼바이지는 수퍼비전에서 미술작업을 통해 의식, 무의식적인 갈등과 이슈가 다루어지는 것을 경 험하고, 내담자뿐만 아니라 수퍼바이지 자신에 대해서도 탐색하는 과정을 거치며 통찰을 하게 된다. 이 과정에서 내담자에 대한 이해가 깊어질 뿐만 아니라 치료사로서의 전문성을 갖게 된다. 셋째, 수퍼비전에서 미술작업의 경험은 수퍼바이지에게 미술심리치료의 특성을 재 경험하게 할 뿐 아니 라 미술심리치료사에게 중요한 미술작업을 지속적으로 할 수 있도록 하는 역할을 하여 치료사를 스스로 돌볼 수 있는 역할을 하게끔 한다.
The goal of this research is to understand the meaning and nature of the experience by exploring the personal experiences of art therapy students in the doctoral program on art making during supervision sessions The participants are all five and they are either Ph.D holders or in the doctoral program of art therapy. They all have two to five semester long supervision experiences in their doctoral education. Three of them have master's degree in art therapy, the other participant had master's degree in textile arts and the last one with master's degree in art management. To identify and clarify the participants' experiences of art making during supervision sessions, Max van Manen's research methodology of the hermeneutic phenomenological qualitative research. By conducting a series of in-depth interviews from April 2013 to August, eight main topics and twenty-seven sub elements are derived. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, participants with art making experiences during their supervision sessions realize that the art making can be more lucid and vivid medium than language in communicating their feelings and emotions experienced in art therapy session with their supervisor and peers. Second, participants perceive that their conscious and unconscious conflicts in mind are being brought to light and properly exposed when making art during supervision. With this experience, participants feel that their understanding in clients grows deeper and that their professional expertise are being improved. Third, the experience of art making during supervision gives a chance to reiterate the unique characteristics of art therapy, and helps supervisees continually make an artwork and reflect on themselves
