The purpose of the study was to search for ways to improve character of students by conducting physical education. For such a long period of time, we are conducting physical education but there has never been a moment when we actually offer ways to deal with character education of the students in the field of physical education. In particular, the physical education field has always been interested in the character education of the students and yet, it has never found any practical ways for how to conduct such education. In consideration of the facts, the study looked into definitions of the character education as discussing how to apply the physical education to the personality education. As a consequence, the study presented roles of teachers that would help the teachers to conduct the character education in the real field in a right manner. First, the study looked into how the character education is related to one’s character development and components of the character education as well. Second, the study discussed directions of the character education for the physical education and learning?teaching methods of the character education as well in the field of physical education. Third, the study offered a cooperative learning model, group activities and a responsibility model as practical ways to conduct the character education. In addition, as a case study, the study searched how to use workbooks for the personality improvement. Fourth, ways for the efficient character education in the physical education field and roles of teachers that would help the teachers when they try to conduct the character education, again, in the physical education field were offered.
