This study aims to investigate and analyze graduate students’ perception of
curricula at nationwide 10 graduate schools of education and to present basic
data the current graduate schools of education are facing. The following
conclusion was obtained: 1) most of the students responded that they entered
the graduate school for ‘professional growth’ in the question related to motive
for entering graduate school; 2) in questions on music subjects in the graduate
school curriculum, they were most satisfied with the question of ‘understanding
of the contents of lectures’ while they were less satisfied with ‘team teaching
with school teachers or special lectures,’ ‘introduction to new theories and trends
in the contents of lectures.’; 3) in the question related to graduate students’
competency with music before and after entering graduate school, it turned out
that there were great differences in the subjects, ‘Traditional Teaching Methods,’
‘New Teaching Methods,’ ‘Traditional Music Theories,’ and ‘Korean Traditional
Music Performance.’; 4) in the question related to preparation of thesis or
dissertation for graduates from graduate school, there were most opinions that
‘the process of preparing thesis or dissertation was difficult but they acquired
new challenges and achievements.'
