21세기 정보통신기술이 발달에 따라 아동들은 성장기부터 컴퓨터， TV, 인터넷， 영 화， 휴대폰， 비디오， 사진 등의 다양한 시청각 매체와 접촉하고 있어 수많은 시각적 자극에 노출되어 있다. 이와 더불어 교통수단의 발달은 아동들의 행동범위를 확대하 여 다양한 경험과 체험을 가능하게 하고 있다. 때문에 과거 아동들이 시각 경험과 행 동범위가 좁았던 것에 비해 오늘날의 아동들은 각종 시청각 매체와 교통수단의 발달 로 시각경험이 폭넓게 확대되고 있어 그들의 시공간 개념 형성에 영향을 미치고 있 다. 이처럼 아동들 의 시공간 개념 형성이 빨라지고 있으나 표현활동 시 실제로 표현 하고자 하는 시공간 개념을 나타내기 어려워하며， 표현활동에 자신감을 앓어가고 있 는 실정이다(심수환， 2(08). 특히 초등학교 고학년에 해당하는 의사실기의 아동들은 평면 표현 활동에서 공간묘사에 어려움을 가짐으로써 그림 그리기에 흥미를 잃어버리 는 아동들이 늘어나고 있다. 정신의 발달 신체의 급격한 발달로 시각적 공간에 대해 보편적이고 객관적인 눈을 뜨게 되나 대상을 눈으로 본대로 관찰한 대로 나타내는데 어려움을 통감하게 되는 것이다. 그러므로 공간묘사는 초등학교 고학년 시기에 학습 되어야 할 중요 학습내용이라 할 수 있다.
The purpose of thls study is developing space representation skill of fine art for sixth grade of elementary school students as understanding the differentness and similarities of eastern and western painting's space description fonnula, space concept by appreciation with representative activity. The result of the study is the following. First, the subject representation and subject emphasis items of the practical examination, the experimental group gets more score than control group. Second, the representation method and effective representation items of the practical examination, the experimental group gets more score than control group. Third, the artistic element, principle and space representation items of the practical examination, the experimental group get more score than control group. Finally, teacher-educating program for appreciation class in elementary school is very effective to increase space representation ability of chlldren, who is in the Pseudo-Naturalistic Stage. Thus, thls study verified educational effectiveness to chlldren's space representation ability using teacher-educating program for appreciation class. Further giving a well-organized educational instruction with chlldren's developmental stage characteristics can be a basic data for complement the curriculum and understanding of chlldren's artistic activity.
