읽기는 인간의 일상생활, 의사소통, 학습 등과 관련하여 중요한 의미를 가진다. 특히, 고차원의 읽기 능력(독해)의 기반이 되는 저차원의 읽기 능력(해독)의 발달과 관련하여, 조기 문해 능력을 조기에 진단하여 적기에 적절한 교육적 조치를 취하는 것은 읽기 학습장애의 예방을 위해서나 아동의 정상적이고 전인적인 발달을 위해서나 매우 중요한 과제이다. 본 논문에서는 국내에서 자주 이용되는 각종 유아용 검사에서 읽기 능력 또는 조기 문해 기술과 관련된 검사 및 문항 내용을 수집, 분석하고, 문제점 등을 파악하여 그 대안을 모색해보고, 특히, 조기 문해 기술을 측정하는 외국의 특수검사를 점검하여 그 시사점을 정리하였다. 마지막으로 국내에서의 장애유아 조기 문해 능력 발달 검사 개발을 위한 방안 및 제언을 도출해보았다.
Reading takes very important position in daily life, communication, and learning. Many children with learning disabilities are identified primarily because of difficulties in reading. Moreover, reading fluency has very close relationship with reading comprehension. In this vein, early literacy skill which regarded as the base or precursor of reading fluency plays very important role in screening at-risk students who have probability to be diagnosed as the reading disabilities. As the results of this study, few tests seemed to measure early literacy skill of children. And it was revealed that most of tests used in diagnosing children suffering from a reading difficulties are utilized in once-for-all manner, not recursively used to monitor the growth of the children\'s early literacy skill. As the alternatives of current practices, it was recommended to examine MRT(Metropolitan Readiness Test) or DIBELS(Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills). Understanding of reading development and importance of early literacy skill should be preceded in developing early literacy skill test. And it was also suggested that the tests should be formative to monitor the growth of the testee\'s early literacy skill like CBM(Curriculum-Based Measurement).
