본 연구는 선행연구에서 제시된 유아용 감성지능 척도의 개발 방향과 Mayer 등(2002)이 개발한 MSCEIT와 Sullivan(1999)이 아동용으로 개발한 EISC를 근거로 만 4~6세 유아용 감성지능 척도를 개발하고, 이를 타당화하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 하였다. 연구자들은 4단계의 척도개발 과정을 통해, 10개 소척도 41개 문항으로 구성된 감성지능 문항을 확정하였다. 그리고 개발된 유아용 감성지능척도와 타당도를 위한 준거척도들을 220명의 만 4~6세 유아들에게 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 척도의 구인 타당도의 증거를 Anastasi(1994)의 준거에 따라 발달적 변화, 내적합치도, 요인분석, 다른 검사들과의 상관, 그리고 신뢰도 영역으로 나누어 살펴본 결과, 본 연구에서 개발된 유아용 감성지능 척도는 감성지능의 이론적인 구성 개념과 특성을 잘 측정하는 타당하고 신뢰로운 도구라고 결론지을 수 있었다.

영문초록

The purpose of this study is to develop and validate emotional intelligence test for young children(EITC). For developing and validating of new scale for Korean young children, study was performed. First, emotional intelligence(EI) was defined to describe the ability to carry out reasoning in regard to emotions, and to include emotion\'s enhancement of thought, exactly, mental ability. And the test was developed according to the definition. sub-test items were adapted and modified from Mayer, Salovey, & Caruso\'s adult scale, Mayer-Salovey-Caruso emotional intelligence test (MSCEIT) and Sullivan(1999)\'s primary children scale, emotional intelligence scale for children(EISC). The resulting scale, the emotional intelligence test for young children(EITC) was also based on the foundations of child- developmental research. EITC consist of the following ten substests: ⒜ Faces, ⒝ Pictures, ⒞ Stories, ⒟ Facilitation, ⒠ Sensation, ⒡ Changes, ⒢ Blends, ⒣ Empathy, ⒤ Emotional Management, ⒥ Emotional Relations. This Study generate following the question. \'How are reliability and validation of EITC?\' 220 children were selected from day-care center located in Seoul. A total of 220 young children from four-year-old to six-year-old completed 41 items of EITC. Subjects also completed levels of emotional awareness scale(LEAS), self esteem scale for children(SESC), multiple life satisfaction scale for children(MLSSC), self control scale for children(SCSC), and K-ABC. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: To obtain construct-relate validity of EITC, age differentiation, internal consistency, factor analysis, correlation of other scale and reliability were used. First, test scores of EITC differed from age, in that, the older, the higher marks of EITC. Second, total score of EITC and sub-test score correlated, namely, they have statistically significant correlation. So, EITC has internal consistency. Third, factor analysis showed that sub-factors of EITC are differed from MSCEIT. Sub-factors of MSCEIT are perceive emotions(PE), facilitating thought(FT), understanding emotions(UE), and managing emotions(ME), while EITC are two factors, that is, perceive emotion(PE) and application of emotions(AE). EI is distributed across many qualities and processes, but it appears that children\'s EI is not yet developed completely. So, FT, UE, and ME were clustered one factor in EITC. Fourth, EI and K-ABC showed medium correlation, these two can be considered as different but related concepts. Also, EI and personality scales, i.e. SESC, MLSSC, and SCSC demonstrated low correlation. Fifth, test reliability of the EITC was tested by assessing split-half reliability and cronbach α. Split-half reliability and cronbach α are adequate.
