본 연구의 목적은 해외 선진 기업들의 모바일 러닝 운영 사례를 분석하여, 국내 기업 교육 의 발전을 위한 주요 고려사항과 운영을 위한 시사점을 도출하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여, 모 바일 기술이 산업 현장에서 활용된 외국 사례들을 선정하여 주요 특징들을 분석하였다. 10개 의 다양한 사례들은 국가 및 산업 분야를 고려하여 선정되었으며, 추진 기관의 특성, 교육 대상 및 배경, 교육 내용과 특징, 운영 경과 및 결과를 중심으로 조사되었다. 모바일 기술을 활용한 기업 교육 및 직업 훈련 분야의 해외 사례들은 학습과 업무의 성과를 지원하는 도구 로서 그 잠재성과 효과성에 관한 논의가 주를 이루고 있었다. 또한, 모바일 기기의 급격한 확산과 이를 지원하는 운영체제, 네트워크, 컨텐츠의 발달에 따라, 기존 모바일 러닝의 개념 에 기기의 적시적 활용성, 확장성, 그리고 지능성이 포함되고 있는 추세이다. 선정된 사례들 이 보이는 공통적 시사점은 모바일 기기가 ‘학습 내용의 편리한 전달 도구’로서가 아닌, ‘즉 각적인 성과 지원 도구’로서 각계 산업의 특성을 반영하고 있다는 점이었다. 교육 요구 접점 에 닿아 있는 모바일 기기의 활용 사례들은 향후 관련 기관이 보다 체계적이고 효과적으로 모바일 러닝을 준비하고 실행하는데 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.
With the rapid distribution of smart technologies and increasing development of industry-related contents and applications, the concept of mobile learning is characterized by not only “mobility” but also “just-in time use”, “intelligence” and “extension” for learning and application to the field. In this study, we analyzed main characteristics through diverse international case studies on the use of mobile devices in the vocational education setting. Selected cases are reviewed in terms of 1) country 2) industry, 3) institution (or company), 4) background of employees (trainees), 5) training courses, and 6) results of training after implementing the mobile courses. Through the cases, we discuss the trends and issues of international mobile learning and the patterns of smart technology usages. The lessons learned from the international cases indicate that mobile and smart technologies are not only “delivery tools of learning contents in the convenient manner” but also “immediate performance supporting tools” that are integrated into the unique characteristics of certain industry and based on the training needs and employees’ performance issues. This study is useful for instructional designers and HRD (Human Resource Development) practitioners in diverse industries to apply the implications from the cases into their mobile and smart learning projects more effectively.
