본 연구는 한국의 가정폭력 가해자 치료 프로그램을 체계적으로 개발하고 보급하기 위해서 선진국의 가해자 치료 프로그램 효과성을 분석하여 한국에서의 적용 가능성을 고찰하고 우리 현실에 맞는 가해자 치료 프로그램 및 대책을 제언하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 미국을 중심으로 가해자 치료 프로그램의 개발과정 및 치료 프로그램 개발을 위한 지침서, 현재 시행중인 Duluth Model, 분노 대처 프로그램(Anger Management Program)및 부부치료 프로그램(Couple Counseling Programs)을 통해 가해자 치료 프로그램을 소개하고, 이에 대한 효과성을 분석하였다. 현재 미국에서 시행중인 가해자 치료 프로그램의 경우, 대부분의 효과성 분석 연구에서 프로그램 수강 후 가해자들의 재폭력률은 명시적으로 감소한 것으로 나타났으나, 통계적으로 유의미한 수치로 나타나지는 않았다. 이러한 결과는 가해자 치료 프로그램 효과성에 심각한 의문을 제기함과 동시에 가해자 치료 프로그램의 효과성을 측정하는 방법상의 어려움도 시사하였다. 이러한 결과를 근거로 한국에서의 가해자 치료 프로그램은 미국의 가해자 치료 프로그램의 이론적 배경과 지침서를 보다 잘 활용하여 한국의 실정에 맞는 체계적이고 통합적인 가해자 치료 프로그램 및 이의 효과성 분석, 체계적인 전달체계 개발을 위한 노력이 필요할 것이다.
The purpose of this research is to examine the possibility of applying and facilitating batterer treatment programs to the current situations in Korea by analyzing the effectiveness of them systematically In order to do so, the development process of batterer treatment programs based on American findings and a guide book for batterer treatment program development, Duluth Model, Anger Management Program, Couple Counseling Programs were introduced and analyzed. In case of effectiveness study in batterer treatment programs in America, the numerical recidivism rate reduced after the programs, but it was found to be statistically insignificant. This findings show us the difficulty in measuring the effectiveness of the programs as well as the effectiveness itself. According to the findings, it is encouraged to develop systematic and integrating research methods applicable to Korea’s current situations. Key Words: Family Violence, Batterer Treatment Programs
