This research aims to develop a teacher training program model which assists the job performance for beginning teachers in charge of infant classes with experience of less than 1 year who cares for infants under 3 years of age. For this, teacher training program proposal which assists the job performance for beginning infant teachers was formed based on literature studies and demands from infant teachers, then after implementing and assessing, and modifying and supplementing, the model was developed. The objectives of the developed teacher training program model are 1) to raise the ability to plan, manage and assess a infant child care program suitable for the development of infants, 2) to understand the main characteristics of infant development, and raise play guide ability suitable for the characteristics of infant’s individual development, 3) to understand the concept and theory of infant interactions, and raise the ability to act appropriately in different situations, 4) to form a trustful relationship with the parents, and raise the ability to consult parents, 5) to learn the content and method of infant’s everyday life guide, and raise the ability to guide with infant’s individuality in consideration, 6) to raise the ability to guide and manage infant’s health and safety. The teaching content is comprised of six topics, which are ‘planning, managing and assessing a infant child care program, infant’s development and play guide, effective interaction between infant and teacher, forming a trustful relationship between parents and teacher, guiding infant’s everyday life, and managing infant’s health and safety’. The teaching method included a variety of teaching method including lectures, discussions, workshops, role plays, site observations of child care centers, sharing experiences and such. The trainers in charge of teaching were a professor with field experiences on child care and expert knowledge on teacher training, child care expert, an experienced teacher of infant classes, or a director of a child care center. The teaching period was comprised of a total of 20 hours, but the teaching times, teaching time per day and teaching period were run flexibly depending on the demand of the beginning infant teachers.
