There are various efforts for improving not only teaching to the disabled student and but also daily living's quality through engineering support in special education fields. It is shown that there are many concerns to use the assistive technology to meet effective the disabled student's functional needs especially. But any support measures are not established to use effective assistive technology, caused by the lack of the basic research on the usage status in the special education fields and its specific requirements. Based on these backgrounds, this research executed to find out the actual conditions for using effective assistive technology and its needs.
First, this research is to clarify special class teacher's understanding of the assistive technology and its applying conditions.
Second, this research is to clarify special class teacher's needs to use the assistive technology effectively in special class room.
To solve the above research object, we conducted the survey against 151 of special class teacher of B, D, and U cities. The questionnaire was organized with following items; the recognition on the assistive technology; the using experience of the assistive technology; the preparation and the purchase of the equipment for the assistive technology; the training and the information on the assistive technology; the utilization requirements of the assistive technology, and so on.
