이 연구의 목적은 초등학교 ‘즐거운 생활’의 교육과정 운영 실태를 분석하여 문제점을 규명한 후, 이에 대한 개선 방안을 제시하는데 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 광주·전남 소재의 초등학교 1, 2학년 교사 403명을 대상으 로 ‘즐거운 생활’의 교육과정 운영 실태에 대해 설문 조사한 후, 이를 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 초등학교 교사들은 ‘즐거운 생활’ 교과에서 ‘체육’ 영역을 분리시켜야 한다는 취지에는 대부분 동의하였지 만, 실제 분과에는 반대하였다. 둘째, ‘즐거운 생활’의 수업은 주로 ‘미술’ 수업의 형태로 이루어지고 있었으며 영 역별 불균형이 심각한 것으로 드러났다. 특히, 체육 영역에 대한 지도가 가장 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 초 등학교 교사들은 주제 중심의 통합적 지도의 어려움으로 인해 대부분 ‘체육’ 영역만을 따로 분리시켜 가르치고 있었으며, 분과시킬 필요가 있다고 생각하였다. 넷째, 초등학교 교사들은 ‘즐거운 생활’의 신체 활동 영역이 아동 들의 건강문제를 해결해 줄 수 없고, 저학년 아동의 발달단계에 맞춘 신체 활동의 제공도 미흡하다고 인식하고 있었다. 다섯째, 초등학교 교사들은 ‘즐거운 생활’을 지도할 때, 통합의 취지와는 달리 교과서의 내용을 재구성하 기 보다는 단순히 ‘교과서 편제 순서’대로 지도하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 ‘즐거운 생활’의 여러 가지 문 제점을 고려해 볼 때, ‘즐거운 생활’에서 ‘체육’ 영역을 분리하여 ‘건강한 생활’이라는 독립 교과로 신체활동 영역 을 따로 지도하는 것이 바람직할 것으로 사료된다.
The purpose of this study is to identify the actual condition and improvement plan of operating ‘Pleasant Life’ curriculum in the elementary schools. This study examines 403 elementary school teachers working in Gwang-ju & Jeonnam. The conclusions were summarized as follow: First, teachers mostly agree the intent of the separating physical activity domain as a independent course from the ‘Pleasant Life' curriculum, but disagreed to do so as it might possibly arise several practical issues in the schools. Second, ‘Pleasant Life' curriculum was largely focused on the ’art class‘ and there was a severe problem with the domain balances; particularly ’PE class‘ was most unsatisfactory in the ‘Pleasant Life' curriculum. Third, most of teachers teaches the PE class independently in the‘Pleasant Life' curriculum because of they had been a difficulties of integrated instructions based on themes. Fourth, teachers disagree that physical activities domain of ‘Pleasant Life’ curriculum would solve the current issues on child-health problems(e.g., child obesity, degradation of physical fitness etc) and recognize the insufficiencies providing proper physical activity correspond with developmental stages for the elementary school 1-2th graders. Fifth, considering the limitations of the ‘Pleasant Life’ curriculum discussed above, it is reasonable to separate and educate the physical activities domain as a independent subject, ‘Healthy Life’.
