This study is aimed at a strategic inquiry into the establishment of a desirable adult education system at which our universities should aim in the future. The study results for “a University Adult Education Advancement” are as follows: Firstly, it is necessary to improve the easiness of education for adult learners and operate flexible educational operation, and strengthen educational competencies, such as field Integrated Education, Core Competency Training, and Field Oriented Training, which will enhance the quality of studies. Secondly, it is necessary to establish an organization in charge of furnishing general services to adult learners, and improving the organizational competency to closely connect various training materials through collaboration with internal and external adult education related organizations and supply various training materials in accordance with necessary conditions and methods. Thirdly, it is necessary to revise the Article 23 and 31 of the “Higher Education Act” related to Recognition of adult learning and reduction of term of study, and the Article 22 of the “Higher Education Act” and the Article 10 of enforcement ordinance of the “Higher Education Act” for “Combination of Work and Study”. In addition, it is also necessary to reflect adult education friendly index on various college evaluation programs.
