The aim of this paper is to analyse and eliminate women teachers\' psychological contradictions and conflicts in Korean education and school system. For this aim, this paper uses \'the separate spheres\' metaphor - the public sphere inhabited by man and the private sphere inhabited by woman- that has been used by western feminist scholars to describe a historically constituted ideology of gender relations. This metaphor leads us to understanding that women teachers feel contradictions because they occupy the two \'different\' spheres \'simultaneously\'. This paper explains how the public and the private sphere are different in the light of the concepts of knowledge and authority, how Korean women have historically come to occupy the two spheres simultaneously, and what it means to Korean women teachers. Finally this paper, to eliminate women teachers\' contradictions, proposes several suggestions for the \'new\' teacher education, totally different from the existing teacher education methodology and program which is based on the hierarchical relationship between the researcher and the researched, teacher(university professor) and student(pre-service or in-service teacher).
