Saint Samyoung(四溟大師) was high priest who achieve a glorious exploit during the period of Imjinwaeran(任辰倭亂, period of Japanese invasion in 1592-98), but historical materials or source in relation to him remained a few at present. In addition, It could not remark that studies in Samyonungdang(四溟堂) had been making progress smoothly and actively. After the end of the war, I think, the Odae-san Library of the Choson Dynasty History was related to Samyonungdang. There are several reason to believe as follows. First, there is relation between the Mt. Odae and Samyonungdang. Samyonungdang called an Odae-san oriented man himself. secondly, the Odae-san was an undamaged region during the battle period. these reason attributed the Odae-san to pick up a most suitable place for the library of the Choson Dynasty History. When Choson Royal court was in search for candidate sites for the library, Samyonungdang visited Mt. Odae. The fact shows important meaning that in face of his mentor's death -Great monk Seosan(西山), Samyonungdang did not attend the funeral parlor at Mt. Myohyang but went to the Odae-san. Besides, it is thought to me that the King Seonjo wanted to entrust Seosan and Samyonungdang with the responsibility of the royal genealogy and the Chronicles of Chosen Dynasty in recognition of both person's services.
